Artist and curator tour of Doha Fashion Fridays with Aparna Jayakumar and Charlotte Cotton

In this exhibition tour, photographer Aparna Jayakumar will share the concept and methodology of the Doha Fashion Fridays project.  The exhibition’s curator – Charlotte Cotton – will explain the design and curatorial approach of the first gallery exhibition of Doha Fashion Fridays. For local photographers who are potentially interested in participating in the Doha Fashion Fridays workshop with Shaima Al-Tamimi, the tour will be an excellent occasion for learning more about Doha Fashion Fridays and connecting with its co-founder.

About Aparna Jayakumar

Aparna Jayakumar is an Indian photographer who is internationally recognized for her multivalent photographic practice that straddles her art practice, editorial storytelling and commercial image-making. In 2017, she began her collaboration with Khalid Albaih, photographing and interviewing migrant workers about their fashion style, and forming Doha Fashion Fridays.

About Charlotte Cotton

Charlotte Cotton is a curator, writer and creative consultant who has explored photographic culture for over twenty-five years. She has held positions including curator of photographs at the Victoria and Albert Museum, head of programming at The Photographers’ Gallery in London, curator and head of the Wallis Annenberg Department of Photography at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She is the founding and current Artistic Director of Tasweer Photo Festival Qatar.
